James Murray

Jim has over 25 years of civil litigation experience, all in private practice, defending individuals, businesses and insurance companies in a wide variety of premises liability, automobile accident and consumer protection cases. Jim has tried well over 30 jury trials, as well as numerous bench trials.

In Jim’s last eleven jury trials, he successfully obtained defendants’ verdicts in his clients’ favor in all of those personal injury claims, most of which were published in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

In Jim’s most recent bench trial, he successfully obtained a defendant’s verdict in a significant six figure consumer protection claim brought against his client, an insurance company.

Also, most recently and in April 2017, Jim prevailed before the Massachusetts Appeals Court. In that case, the appellant sought payment of approximately $460,000.00 from Jim’s client, a realty trust, pursuant to environmentally based indemnity provisions contained in a deed. The Appeals Court affirmed the Superior Court’s allowance of summary judgment in Jim’s client’s favor, and dismissed the appeal.

Jim also served as Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University, from 1995 to 2012, teaching courses in primarily real estate law. In his one year between law school graduation and private practice, he served as a judicial law clerk with the New Hampshire Superior Court.

Jim received his Bachelor of Science Degree, magna cum laude, from University of Massachusetts in Lowell in 1985 and received his law degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 1988.

He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
