Courtney is a graduate of Wesleyan University (2001) and Boston University School of Law (2005). She has focused her practice on representing employers and insurers in all phases of Workers’ Compensation litigation, appearing before the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court and the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents. In addition, she has litigated hundreds of matters in the Rhode Island Family Court and the Rhode Island Superior Court, including a class action lawsuit. She is also a certified mediator in the State of Rhode Island.
Courtney has conducted Workers’ Compensation seminars for in-house legal training and for the National Business Institute (NBI). She is a member of the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Bench Bar Committee, the Defense Counsel of Rhode Island (DCRI), and the Edward P. Gallogly Family Law Inn of Court.
In Spring 2023, Attorneys Manchester and Hornstein co-authored Chapter 8 of the 2nd Edition of the MCLE Manuel on Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation, “Practice and Procedure; The Employer Perspective” detailing the trial practice in the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court. They discussed the responsibilities and burdens of proof imposed on employers and best practices that should be followed by employers in the pretrial and trial phases of a litigated claim to achieve the optimum results.
Courtney is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
